I went to LARC (Local Artist Resource Center) Art Gallery in Sequim. Shirley Mercer is the owner of the gallery. In this gallery all the artist are local. The gallery is full of water colors, photography, jewelry, pottery and painted gourds, that when their strings are pulled it sounds like a thunder storm. One of the photographers who's work stood out to me is: Karen Rozbicki Stringer. http://www.karenstringerphotography.com. Karen's images of macro flowers "Flower Study" have so much drama and emotion. The lighting is so mesmerising, I also like enjoy looking at her grungy work, she can take something yucky, dirty, grungy and make it look almost beautiful. I like that they are in mostly black and white or with a slight tint. It bring out the interest in the photo, drama and emotion also. Being black and white gives it timelessness. |
